Our client Rockwool have teamed up with energy provider SWALEC and Robert Price Builders Merchants in South Wales to offer an incredible deal on loft insulation for DIY consumers within the delivery areas of the 14 participating Robert Price branches.
It was clear from the very first briefing, that the campaign strength was primarily the price plus other supporting benefits; so all agreed that this would be an offer driven direct response campaign with two clear objectives:
To raise awareness of the offer.
To galvanize and stimulate response.
Research also suggested that whilst most houses already have loft insulation, the vast majority do not have enough, so the campaign message needed to refer to topping up your loft insulation for an amazing price. Our solution was therefore simple, to include the offer in the headline and list the other supporting selling points as strong, persuasive and additional secondary messages, creating compelling reasons to purchase.
It is always important to measure and evaluate every campaign across the media mix plus learn more about the types of consumers who have responded. We therefore helped Rockwool to create a simplistic, prompted respondent questionnaire which would work efficiently online, on the phone and in branch.
The campaign started on Real Radio on January 13th 2011 and will ran for 5 weeks. Other supporting media include targeted leaflet distribution and local press. To help sell Insulation
As we head towards the Autumn (Summer was 4 weeks in July remember?!) we thought it was high time that we updated you on the latest developments here at Stylus. 2010 has seen a selection of exciting new clients join the good ship Stylus and we believe that they have come aboard due to our commitment and dedication to providing practical design solutions which are sensibly priced.
One of them, a leading innovator in thermal, fire and acoustic protection, asked us to produce a web app making their brand more accessible and immediate to their multiple audiences via the iphone and ipad. As we are always looking at modern, progressive ways to communicate via multiple media, we were able to deliver an innovative and pragmatic solution. Mobile communication opportunities are constantly changing and growing and our desire to keep learning and advising our clients of the benefits is key to our continued success.
Our digital portfolio continues to expand, with a completely new website for Alvin Industrial Limited, suppliers of industrial clamps, protection and barriers at www.alvinindustrial.eu. We helped them to set up their online ordering system which has grown their business by 30% since it went live in June 2010. With three more sites currently in development and of course the launch of our own site earlier this year, our e:marketing solutions are expansive and shrewd.
A re-branding project for a PR agency and an estate agency, an internal communications project for Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, an instore retail communication brief for Champion and external comms for a UV engineering company - to name a few - we're sailing through the recession.
Today’s tough economic climate continues to have a huge impact on SMEs and we predict that there are a number of darker months ahead. Many companies have already adopted bunker marketing strategies, only poking their head up now and again to their buying audience and some have gone a step further by cutting their marketing budgets, delaying new product development and curtailing research in an effort to save money.
Yet, is this the right strategy?
Research from the Design Council has shown that an investment in design can be instrumental in turning the corner to renewed growth. In fact, over half the companies surveyed thought “design would contribute to a large or great extent in helping maintain their competitive edge in the current climate and had become more important in helping the firm to achieve its business objectives.”
We, unsurprisingly, concur with the Design Council’s research and can report, as we head towards the end of Q1 2010, an increase in many of our clients design expenditure and prospects design desire to spend more on their brand this year than last, showing that design is indeed an important tool to help businesses survive the recession which in turn will drive the country’s future economic performance.
Since we launched our online page flip service at the beginning of the year, it's all going flipping mad here at Stylus.
In our experience, many companies spend time, effort and money on their website but fail to capitalize on presenting their offline communications effectively online. Yet the simplicity of converting brochures, catalogues, CSR reports, product guides or similar communications into user friendly, compelling and powerful page turn documents is now available through Action Pages at Stylus.
And with the added vital benefit of being able to capture the viewing data via clear statistical analysis information, ROI can be checked and re-checked and used as another practical and useful sales and marketing tool. It's also eco friendly so helps the environment too.
It's flipping brilliant and costs only £30 set up and £4 per page.
If it's time to make your offline communications more dynamic online, pick up the flipping phone!

CORT GUITARS
One of our more interesting clients have just signed Gene Simmons of Kiss as an endorsee.
Any budding heavy metal guitarists out there that want a Cort guitar just like Genes, drop Matthew a mail and we will see what we can do! New pictures from Cort will be posted soon.
Whilst putting this site together we came across an old video tape from the pre-computer days of design.
See if you can work out the year as a fresh faced young designer sits at his drawing board explaining his lack of accountancy skills in
an Inland Revenue film. First correct answer wins a bar of chocolate!

This year Stylus bought a Donkey instead of Christmas cards. We have heard back from Charity with the results.
Firstly, we wanted to send a huge thank you to all those who supported us over Christmas. We raised over £400,000 this Christmas through virtual gifts – presents this year included an amazing 1,039 sheep, 1,472 Magic Muck gifts, and 1,207 gifts of fruit trees.
Whether you sent one or received one, thank you for your support. This money will go such a long way to supporting families in Africa – and of course thanks to our pass on, you know that your gift will keep giving year after year.
This is the perfect time of year to try something new - why not make a new year’s resolution with a difference and become a volunteer? By volunteering for Send a Cow you could help to change lives in Africa and do something fun and fulfilling for yourself. Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills and improve your CV.
There are lots of ways to get involved by fundraising, giving talks and telling others about our work. To find out more visit www.sendacow.org.uk/volunteer. Deciding to start volunteering could be the best New Year’s resolution you’ve ever made.
However you decide to support Send a Cow this year, thank you. We really couldn’t do it without you!
During the recent cold weather in the South East, we have managed to keep the office open. Being able to be logged on to the office server has been an invaluable asset plus the use of Skype to keep in touch. The video option has created quite a few laughs!
Keeping the local wildlife fed has been fun, with visits from numerous pheasants, woodpeckers and deer a well as flocks of pigeons and crows. We couldn't fail to hear all the parakeets that have been flocking to the feeders. These have now become pests and can be shot. Did you know that a flock of crows is called a murder?
